However you feel about social media, the pros (the cons…) it can’t be denied that places like Instagram, Tik Tok and YouTube are amazing at fostering and growing strong communities made up of people from all over the globe. With transgender, non-binary and other members of the LGTBQ+ community more often than not severely unrepresented in traditional media, social platforms can help bring that much needed connection and empowerment, however that might look, breaking those stereotypes, showcasing self-expression and celebrating rewriting those traditional ‘norms.’ Queer influencers are transforming coming out for gen z, offering more intimate access to authentic queer stories, whether it’s on tik tok or Instagram.
