The tranexamic acid GLOW DOWN

by Elise Parkes |

With SO much buzz around Tranexamic acid (and for good reason!) it’s important to understand what it actually is + who it’s suitable for.

WHAT IS IT?

Tranexamic Acid is an active ingredient that can be found in skincare products. It’s known as a hyperpigmentation hero for its ability to improve skin discoloration + help prevent formation of dark spots, keeping skin looking healthy + youthful.

HOW DOES TRANEXEMIC ACID WORK?

Tranexamic acid works by stopping processes that cause hyperpigmentation.

When your skin is exposed to UV light (this could be from the sun or sun beds), it produces an enzyme called plasmin, which can trigger the production of excess melanin, leading to dark spots.

Tranexamic acid works by blocking this enzyme, reducing melanin production in pigment-producing cells. It also prevents melanin from moving to the upper layers of the skin, which helps keep dark spots from forming or getting worse.

WHY WOULD I NEED TO USE TRANEXEMIC ACID?

Tranexamic acid helps prevent new dark spots forming + improves existing discolorations, in other words, you can use tranexamic acid to keep your skin tone looking even + reduce dark marks, from sun damage or spots.

WILL TRANEXEMIC ACID FADE MY ACNE SCARS?

Tranexamic acid can help to fade acne scars or other post-breakout marks.

DO VITAMIN C + TRANEXEMIC ACID WORK WELL TOGETHER?

YES! When tranexamic acid is combined with other brightening active ingredients it can help to boos it’s affect!
