DRY SKIN AROUND YOUR EYES? LETS SORT IT OUT!

If you’ve landed on this blog, it’s likely that you’re suffering with dry skin, specifically around your eyes + *frantically* looking for a solution. In this blog we delve into what can cause dry skin and how best to fix.

What are the symptoms of dry skin?

Dry skin may be rough, flaky, sore, itchy or peeling.

What can dry skin look like?

Dry skin around your eyes can look like white little dots, the area can look crusty, scaly or flaky, this is caused by dead skin. You may notice small cracks around the eyes, which can look like wrinkles. Your eye area may appear dull or discoloured.

What can cause dry skin around your under eyes

Plenty of factors influence your skin’s hydration state, here are a few causes that may affect you!

You may have a damaged moisture barrier, be using harsh skincare ingredients, live in a colder climate, suffer from allergies, spend too much time in hot showers or baths or have a skin condition such as eczema.

How to treat dry under eyes?

Treating dry under eyes totally depends what the cause is, you may have read the above list and think a few could apply to you.

We put together a few different methods you can incorporate into your daily routine to help treat your dry under eyes.

*if you suffer from a skincare condition such as eczema or conjunctivitis, we recommend you speak with a doctor or dermatologist before changing your routine.

1) Use hydrating ingredients within your skincare routine.

There are plenty of hydrating ingredients so it can be difficult to decipher which one is best. We recommend you start with a hyaluronic acid serum. Glow Hub’s Hydration Hero Wand has been specifically formulated to help with your under-eye concerns. With Hyaluronic and Polyglutamic acid (Hydration BFFs) as well as caffeine, cucumber and squalene, to help soothe, cool, brighten and hydrate your under-eye area. The rollerball applicator helps with circulation boosting for long term benefits.

2) Strip out any harsh active ingredients in your skincare routine

Harsh active ingredients can damage your skins moisture barrier which can lead to a loss in skin hydration. We recommend leaning out your skincare routine and giving those harsh actives a break. Swap out with a gentle serum such as the hydration hero: a mega moisturising serum for plump, healthy, dewy skin. Formulated with Hyaluronic and polyglutamic acid.

3) Stay hydrated inside and out!

Of course, it goes without saying keeping hydrated inside + out is super important. Humantra electrolyte sachets deliver 4x the hydration of water alone! Expertly formulated with a balance of minerals, antioxidants, calorie-free metabolism support and 6 essential electrolytes will help you stay *seriously* hydrated on the inside. If you find yourself struggling drinking enough water each day, Humantra have a selection of incredible flavours to pick from, making staying hydrated even easier!

4) Spend less time in the shower!

Hot showers can have a negative impact on your skin moisture barrier resulting in dehydrated skin! Don’t cut your showers out completely… but turn down the temperature or spend a little less time in them!

How to prevent dry under eyes?

Preventing dry under eyes goes hand in hand with how to treat them! Make sure your incorporating hydrating serums like Hydration Hero Facial Serum or the Hydration Hero Wand (specifically targeting your eye area). Keep hot showers short! Strip out harsh actives within your skincare and make sure your drinking enough water!

We hope we’ve answered your questions on why under eyes can be dry and how to hydrate dry under eyes. If you have any additional question, email us at hello@glowhubeauty.com or drop us a message on socials! We’d be more than happy to help with any extra advice you might need!
